Meet Michael Simard, Mediator

Michael Simard Mediator Victoria BC

I bring over 20 years of experience in education, facilitation, and counselling. My work has been shaped by a deep interest in how people navigate communication, especially when conversations become difficult or the path forward feels unclear.

With a foundation in trauma-informed practice and emotional regulation, I create a calm and steady environment where challenging conversations can take place more effectively. My approach supports people in staying engaged, even when emotions are high or communication has broken down.

I see conflict not as something to avoid, but as a process that can be worked through with clarity and steady presence. Mediation offers a way to support that process... helping people move toward better understanding and workable outcomes without taking sides or giving advice.

Foundational Expertise

As an Associate Mediator on the Mediate BC roster, I bring together more than 20 years of experience in counselling, facilitation, education, and conflict resolution. My mediation practice reflects a natural progression in my professional work, combining structured mediation processes with a deep understanding of communication, relationships, and emotional regulation.

My approach is grounded in trauma-informed practice, impartial facilitation, and respectful dialogue. I believe people are most capable of finding practical, lasting solutions when they have the time, structure, and support to remain engaged in difficult conversations. My role is to provide that calm, steady framework so participants can work toward clear, workable agreements together.
